This Month’s Newsletter – Issue 78 Autumn 2024

187 Brougham Place, North Adelaide

Welcome from the Principal

As the new Principal and CEO of St Ann’s College I want to welcome you to the news from St Ann’s College.

Our College first opened with 16 students in 1947. Today we are a College of 199 students from rural and regional Australia, interstate and overseas. We have a split of approximately 60% female and 40% male today, and representation from many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

We are delighted to welcome our new Dean, Lucy Fairlie-Jones, who comes to us from Seymour College where she was Head of Boarding. Lucy has already become strongly enmeshed in the St Ann’s family, particularly from her close work with both the Residential Advisors and College Club Committee at the start of the year.

St Ann’s has a strong sense of community and we value the interactions between students, whether a planned occasion, or incidental interactions around the College. I encourage all students in this community to make sure they get to know everyone else in the community and join in with the events – academic support, socialising and social justice – to make the most of their experience.

This year we are hoping to strengthen our links with the past even further, reconnecting with previous students and reaching out to new friends of the College. Watch out for details of both the upcoming Reunion for Collegians, and then the Gala Dinner. Both events will be held at the College and also provide an opportunity to look at the continually evolving physical facilities of the College.

Two of the major projects from the summer break include the replacement of the Common Room Floor and the commencement of the new air conditioning units in Barnes, replacing broken units.

You can read up on more summer maintenance and improvements below.

We would also like to feature news from Collegians in upcoming newsletters. If you know of significant life events – graduations, births, engagements, weddings or sadly deaths – from within our community, we would love to share them. Please get in touch.

Thank you for your continued support of St Ann’s as we continue to strive to provide support for students in their university learning journey.
