Collegians Reunion on 13 April 2024

Two decades may have flown by, but the memories of College days remain vivid and cherished. On Saturday April 13th at 3pm, the St Ann’s Collegians hosted a 20-year reunion stand-up cocktail event for students who attended from 2003, 2004 and 2005. The air buzzed with excitement as old friends reunited, reminiscing about shared experiences, and catching up on the time that had gone by.

As students returned, some for the first time in 17 years, the excitement on their faces was all the reward that was needed for the hard work dedicated to bringing this event together.

One of the highlights of the afternoon included tours conducted by current students of the college Mikayla Russell, Sophie Finch and Madhav Aiyappa, where many of the group were excited to not only see their old rooms and communal areas where many memories were created, but also seeing the new upgrades and hard work that has occurred recently at the college.

It was also very special that Dr. Rosemary Brooks OAM could attend to socialise with many of the students whose lives she touched during their College years.

As the afternoon progressed, and memories were unlocked from old Vestas, it became evident that despite the passage of time and the divergent paths that had been chosen, the bonds of friendship remained as strong as ever.

Reflecting on the reunion, it was clear that while much had changed, the essence of who the students were as individuals and as the Ann’s community remained unchanged. The laughter, camaraderie, and shared memories served as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of our formative years.

We want to deeply thank the organising committee, the current students who assisted on the day, and the other volunteers who ensured that the day could go ahead. A special mention must be made of Amanda McConnell (St Ann’s College Resident 2004-2006) and Chloe Wanklyn (St Ann’s College Resident 2004-2007) who lead the charge with planning and made contact with so many Collegians. We also want to thank the College for allowing us to host the event on premises.

Stay tuned, as the Collegians are looking to run reunions annually moving forward! St Ann’s College is always willing to open our doors to past students. If you would ever like to tour or help the Collegians Association to plan an event for your cohort, please get in touch.
